Additionally, a CBS News data investigation finds that over a third of top election officials have quit or retired since the 2020 race. The situation is particularly pronounced in New Jersey and parts of New York. In Massachusetts, 42% of election administrators have left their jobs since 2020. Maryland has also seen a concerning rise in turnover among the state's election officials, with nearly half new to their positions, according to research from the Bipartisan Policy Center.
