SpaceX's Polaris Dawn Mission Set for August 26, Aiming for First Private Spacewalk at 1,400 Kilometers with Jared Isaacman

SpaceX is set to launch its Polaris Dawn mission on August 26, 2024, marking a historic milestone as it will attempt the first-ever private spacewalk. The mission, part of the Polaris Program, will feature a four-person crew, including Commander Jared Isaacman, and will operate at altitudes reaching up to 1,400 kilometers above Earth. This mission will utilize SpaceX-designed extravehicular activity (EVA) spacesuits and aims to set a record for the highest altitude achieved by humans since the Apollo program. The crew will also test Starlink communications in space and conduct nearly 40 scientific experiments. The launch will take place from Cape Canaveral, Florida, using a Falcon 9 rocket and a Crew Dragon capsule named Resilience. The Polaris Dawn mission is expected to redefine commercial spaceflight and push the boundaries of human exploration beyond what has been achieved in over 50 years.
